Happy New Year! Yes, 2017 is here and I am really excited for the many events and things happening this year, yay.

Speaking of exciting things, I recently added a new lens to my photography equipment, the Canon EF 100mm f/2.8 Macro USM, yes, sorry for all the technical language, it’s a fixed lens for macro photography. Well, I’ve got to say that I absolutely L-O-V-E this lens. It is great for portraits as it blurs out the background nicely. It’s a great quality lens but, it is heavy – about 1.3 lbs.

This past Christmas I put it through the test. Despite being a lively night and everyone taking part in awesome conversations, I was able to capture a couple of shots. Since this lens does not have Image Stabilization as other lenses do, it can be quite a challenge to capture photos without a tripod. But, for starters, I was super excited to see the results.

And here are the two portraits I captured.

I certainly have a long way with practicing and utilizing this new lens, but so far I am loving it. Really looking forward to shooting a lot of photos with this lens.
