Gargoyles of Notre Dame

When I see a black and white photo, these words often come up in my mind: classic, timeless, high quality, film (the type for cameras, that is) and elegance. The absence of color makes me think: what color was the building? Or, how would that car look in red? What pops into your mind when you see black and white photos?
